Do you by chance have AirParrot, Reflector or some other screen-sharing utility on your Mac? That might have taken control away from AirPlay for this capability. This might only be a temporary fix. If your router is more than 3 years old, you might want to see if restarting it helps, at least temporarily.

I should say that routers can be easily hacked, and most people never even know it because all they did was plug the router in — never logged into it to change the access password or make any other security changes.
